Always An Artist - Week 10

A slightly eclectic set of tasks this week:

- On Monday, I ran auditions for a new musical.
- On Tuesday, I was editing an audio piece for a youth showcase.
- On Thursday, I was building a playlist for a community event.
- On Friday, I did a session of directing support on a friend's new play.
- On Sunday, I started research for another directing concept.

The nice thing about the tasks this week was that they were all things I had to do anyway. Even the concept is for an application. I didn't technically "have" to help my friend with her directing questions, but I love the show, I want her to succeed, and I really believe the world is better when we all help where we can. Plus, it was fun.

The show is called "Everyone's Worried About Eve," and it's running for two nights at The Bread and Roses Theatre on 23rd and 24th March. The play is a lovely comedy about Eve who gets through life by pretending she's the main character in a beloved sitcom. Go and see it!

The music and audio tasks are deeply rooted in community, which is something that is really important to me as an artist. The audio piece features clips from some of my students in a SEN drama class, telling stories inspired by craft activities. We've approached creative play in this way because it's aligned with their current capabilities, which is more important than anything else.
